Anonymous asked: im in college studying art/graphic design, however I'm starting to think I'm wasting my time and thousands of dollars. i just recently purchased adobe and have a wacom tablet, so i have the tools for the job. i know I'm not ready to start selling designs yet, but school is taking up all my time that id be using to hone in on my artwork. I'm debating dropping out of college to pursue getting a job and in my free time pushing my artwork. did you go to an art college? Lookin for some advice, thanks
Hey! thanks for the message!
i know that sometimes it feels as though you are wasting your time with school and you are not really getting out of it everything that you believe you need. however i would tell you to stick it out, college and university is some of the most valuable time you can spend on developing a craft. its important to remember that no matter what you are being asked to do in college there is a lesson to be learned from it, even if you dont notice it right away. i went to university and studied illustration and ive taken more away from the course that i ever thought i would at the time. in no other period in my life have i had the freedom to basically spend three years trying to get better.
remember that you get out what you put into college.
